What we think of the Huawei P40 Pro

A phone model with quite possibly one of the best cameras ever and a phenomenal battery life is unfortunately hampered by its software. However, although this is the case, many users will make the most out of this device with the camera, design and battery life.

As Huawei is now banned in the US, it doesn’t have Google Mobile Services. This means that users don’t have access to the Google Play Store and other popular apps, and in this time, apps are everything. It’s frustrating to own a handset that basically defeats the object of having a smartphone. Especially in 2020. Unfortunately, it’s something that’s out of Huawei’s control, therefore making the device less useful.

So, what does the Huawei P40 Pro have to offer?

It has a luxurious and premium design that completely excels any of the previous models Huawei has produced. The Huawei P40 Pro has a beautiful display that incorporates curved glass at all four edges with thin bezels at the top and bottom of the device, making it look thinner than other competing phones.

The Huawei P40 Pro has a 6.58-inch screen, which fits easily into your hand. It’s slightly shorter and narrower than the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. The screen itself is vibrant and large, making it excellent for watching videos in particular. Huawei has stepped away from the dual-colour gradient tones they’ve used on previous models and opted for five classier solid tones. The colour choices will depend on your location.

One thing that has stood out on the Huawei phone model is the camera. This has always been a major selling point and the Huawei P40 Pro is no exception. Executing vibrant photos in good light, the camera also performs extremely well in low-light conditions. The zoom functionality of the camera is excellent and the quality of the images is consistent.

The Huawei P40 Pro has a fast chip and easily keeps up with the latest flagship phone models from other brands. This model is available with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of internal storage and this can easily be increased using a microSD card. It depends how much storage you need and what exactly you use your phone for.

Why should I buy the Huawei P40 Pro?

If you’re a phone user that doesn’t require numerous apps, the Huawei P40 Pro could work in your favour. It has a limited app selection due to no longer having Google Mobile Services included. Eventually, you should be able to download more apps as time goes on through the Huawei App Gallery and alternatives such as the Amazon App Store.

The camera is fantastic. The photos are consistent and you can effortlessly capture a variety of scenarios, especially using the zoom functionality. If you are purely looking for camera quality, the Huawei P40 Pro could be the phone for you.

If you’re after a great camera, you’re more than likely need an excellent battery life. This phone can easily make it through a whole day and still have battery left at the end. However, the battery life will depend on how often you use your phone and for what purposes.

If you’re after simplicity, then the Huawei P40 Pro is the phone for you. With limited apps and services, it’s a quite a basic model. However, the camera and battery life excel, making it a great phone to own.
