2016 saw the launch of the new Apple iPhone 7 and the loss of our old friend- the headphone jack. Now this was not the most innovative move in the world and it sent a lot of people into frenzy over the fact they could no longer charge their phone and use wire headphones at the same time. Fear not, in come Griffin and Incipio to save the day!
We have seen a variety of solutions already from companies both little and large who have tried to restore the beloved headphone jack with dongles and battery cases. In comes Incipio, who are one of the biggest case manufacturers in the world, who has decided to get in on the game of ‘let’s replace the headphone jack...somehow?’
Introducing the OX Case.
This case brings back the ability to listen to music AND charge your phone at the same time. The OX case looks relatively similar to most plastic iPhone 7 cases except it has an added protrusion, similar to a battery pack case. This extra bit provides space for the extra ports – instead of adding battery life the OX offers a 3.5mm jack for your headphones and a lightning port for charging! Simple and effective!
The OX will be available in both iPhone 7 and 7 Plus sizes
Secondly, we saw Griffin swoop in and show off its brand new Reserve case.
This battery case has 3,000mAh battery and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh but why stop there! This case also offers a pass-through lightning connector. When compared to Apple’s own battery pack option for $99, which has a smaller battery of 2,365mAh and no headphone jack it would seem silly not to really? If you’re wondering Griffin’s new case even has Apple’s MFI certification which means it shouldn’t harm your iPhone.
The Griffin Reserve case will be available in Q2 of this year
