Ping pong artistry for Children in Need
Since table tennis became an Olympic sport in 1988 it’s been gradually accruing more and more ‘cool factor’. The Fivefootsix collective have jumped on this bandwagon and have created ‘The Art of the Ping Pong’ as their theme for the third year running in an effort to raise funds for Children in Need.
They sent out paddles to distinguished artists and designers and asked them to customize them in their unique styles. These include Anthony Burrill, Asako Masunouchi, Kate Forrester and Toby Melville-Brown amongst many others. These paddles are currently being exhibited in Hoxton for two and a half weeks before they get auctioned off.
The auction takes place 1 – 30 November 2015. Fivefootsix have partnered with Roll Studio to create an app to facilitate the auctioning of the paddles. Everyone that downloads The Art of Ping Pong app will have access to a stellar selection of free illustrations, donated by some of this years’ artists, and receive a code to claim a discount towards the event catalogue – a limited edition publication to accompany the exhibition, sponsored by Fedrigoni and Colt Press.
'The Art of Ping Pong' is on at KK Outlet, 42 Hoxton Square, N1 6PB. November 5-25.
