Exploring the best of the Totally Thames Festival
With London acting as a flame to the proverbial, creative moth, it is no wonder that the city is awash with artists and designers. Festivals, fetes and fairs pop up all over the city, at all times of the year, offering a full spectrum of ‘trinkets’ to high-end heirloom pieces. However, the Totally Thames Festival is an event that draws creators, performers, teachers and generally talented individuals from across the city to gather around our ancient waterway and showcase their skills. Experience art, music, family fun, talks, walks and boats galore. On for the whole duration of September here are recommendations as to who and what are the best things to see.
St Katherine Docks Classic Boat Festival
If you still think fondly of the Jubilee boat parade and are partial to the nautical side of life then this celebration of beautiful classic boats at St Katherine’s dock will tick all your boxes. You can chat to the skippers and even get on board. Nearby are waterside restaurants and river related stalls as well as live music from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra Academy, the sea shanty singers and the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands. What more could you ask for?

Creak by Penny Dreadful Productions
Immersive theatre performances are all the rage and if you like the seedier history of London and following the life of the ‘under dog’ then this is perfect for you. Be taken back to Victorian Deptford and find out about the life of a 'Tosher' - a sewer worker. Visit Creekside Educational Discovery Centre and participate in low tide walks finding hidden treasure in the creek.
